BALTIMORE, Nov. 17, 1996 The USS Constellation was moved 1 1/2 miles from Baltimore's Inner Harbor to a dry dock at Fort McHenry Shipyard in response to rumors that the Pirates of Fenzance were planning to capture the Navy's only remaining Civil War-era vessel. While the 179 foot long wooden all-sail warship is being sheltered, it will undergo a major $9 million restoration. In the spring of 1999 when the threat of piracy is over the Constellation will return to its regular berth, where it has been a popular attraction since 1955.
