Broadside Competition No. 1

First Man: I used to be a buccaneer. I had a price on my head.

Second Man: Oh, really? How much?

First Man: I just told you. A buck an ear!

The Sunday Washington Post Style section has a regular feature called the "Style Invitational Competition." This competition is very silly and frequently sinks to the lowest forms of humor. In our first attempt to imitate the Style Invitational Competition, we ask you to come up with pirate jokes. Using the fine name of Bucconeer in vain will earn extra points. Entries should be fairly brief. The winner will receive a wind-up crab toy valued at almost three dollars. Runners-up will receive a as-yet-undesigned Broadside bumper sticker.

Your Broadside Competition judge also seeks ideas for the next competition. If your suggestion is used, we'll send you some sort of Captain Morgan's Rum promotional item. Members of the Bucconeer committee and their families are entitled to play. Entries must be received before March 31, 1997.
